University of Barcelona (UB)

I am Gulsu Tecer from Cyprus, a neuroscience graduate with a specialization in cognitive neuroscience. I completed my BSc in Neuroscience and my MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience in the United Kingdom, where I focused on perception and the experimental design of research using neuroimaging and physiological tools (EEG, fMRI, and Eye-tracking). For my Master’s thesis, I investigated perceptual learning and the listening effort involved in comprehending noisy speech, particularly whether training with one speaker generalizes to an unfamiliar voice.

As an Early-Stage Researcher at the University of Barcelona, I am interested in exploring how we perceive foreign-accented speech and the neurocognitive mechanisms recruited during adaptation to foreign accents. I also look forward to the training and collaborative opportunities that this fellowship will provide.
